I worked at a summer camp this past summer. These kids didn’t know the alphabet, how to count, their birthdays, their addresses, their parents’ names, their own middle names. Parents need to start stepping it up. Parents are ALSO supposed to teach their kids. It’s called RAISING them.

To be so fair my school didn’t teach cursive until 5 grade, we had print handwriting practice every morning k-4th grade and then switched to cursive in 5th

i learned clocks and money in second grade so it’s not just at home if students can’t do it the teachers aren’t teaching properly and the parents should see that and work on it at home too

Remove “No child left Behind” policy. So they can stop advancing children that is not ready for the next grade level and also force parents to help with their education and hold them accountable. If Parents can’t see problems they don’t know to help. Remember parents rely on report cards. Additionally parents can see that kids are struggling and need help. And remove the kids mindset that they don’t need to pass to K - 8. That’s is why we have plenty of children struggled in high school.
