These birds were farmed for meat and eggs and were at risk of spreading avian flu to migratory birds. The “farmers” are compensated for the cull and had the last 11 months to work with the govt on this.

I honestly was on the farms side, until I did my own research. Even those they survived they carry the virus. The farmers should have had a barn for them to keep them safe from contamination. They left dead birds shared same water, food, and unfortunately that is how they protect other animals.

This isn’t just a Canadian policy, many countries have the same policy because of trade agreements. Our farmers wouldn’t be able to sell their meat otherwise.

I feel so sick. I have never been more disappointed in the Canadian Supreme Court. They should now replace every single bird that they killed and payment should be made to the family that had to listen to the terror of the healthy birds as they were shot.

Cool contaminated livestock got better. That’s not how I’d like my meat regulated, and just because they got caught they tried to reclassify the ostriches on their farm. They knew the rules, took part in enforcing them even throughout the years, but when it came to their farm they tried to weaponize a political discourse. They didn’t even classify well, there were still relatively fresh livestock tags on some of these birds. Its wild how one ostrich farm is manipulating a narrative the gullible masses are trying to rally behind

Wow….just wow!!!! Those poor birds and their owners, what a horrific thing to go through! I don’t understand how they can justify “euthanizing” them when they were💯 recovered? Just devastating!!!😭💔
