💡 DIY HOW TO: Replace an undermount sink. Sometimes life happens- a glass bottle fell from my medicine cabinet and broke straight through the sink. 😱 I ordered a replacement sink and followed these steps to install the new one: 1️⃣ Turn off water and remove old sink- use putty knife, shims, utility knife muscle. We ended up carefully hammering some pieces out because it was stuck on hard. Use work gloves to avoid cuts! 😅 2️⃣ Clean and prep the surface VERY thoroughly. Scrape off all the old silicone, scrape again, sand, and use denatured alcohol to get off the last bit of residue. Wipe the surface of the new sink with alcohol too- you don’t want any dust or oils from your hand on there. 3️⃣ Get all tools (drill/screwdriver) and materials (screws, brackets) ready and do a dry run. You have very limited time (~10 mins) before the silicone starts setting and the sink may be very heavy to hold in place. You want to know the game plan before you start! 4️⃣ Apply a thick bead of 100% silicone adhesive to the new sink. Put it towards the outer edge so that it won’t smush into the actual sink basin when you install it. 5️⃣ Lift carefully and screw into place. We found it easier to both work from underneath- one holding the sink up and the other person screwing the brackets in. 6️⃣ Wipe off any excess silicone inside sink edge to ensure clean surface. 7️⃣ Reattach the plumbing and you’re all set! 💦 Save for future reference and drop a comment below if there are other beginner DIY tutorials you’re looking for! . . . #diytutorial #masterbathroom #bathroomreno #bathroomgoals
