Under the Volcker Rule, when JPMorgan Securities makes markets in a stock like Tesla, it can't just buy a million shares because it thinks the price will go up. Inventory has to be calibrated to reasonably expected near term customer demand. Tiny spreads, no directional bets, outside the bank, regulated by the SEC and FINRA. That's the baseline for stocks.
