Th thing is, they were absolutely capable of doing better, there's a video of them singing it at a concert(or something else, not sure) and it sounded so much clearer and better than in the movie

Idc I will die on the hill that this is the best movie musical ever. Don’t really have much complaint about their singing bc they delivered such a phenomenal acting performance. I also prefer the live singing. None of them are as bad as people claim 😭 ofc they sound nothing like Colm Wilkinson but 🤷🏽♀️it’s a movie
