@lucyhuxleyxxx: Replying to @Ajones35 this is why we fight for decriminalization, not legalization! It’s important to know the difference. Decriminalization removes all criminal penalties around SW without adding any requirements and creating a two-tiered system. Under legalization, the most marginalized workers still end up working illegally and therefore with less safety.

the ranches are also notoriously r/cist, ableist and fatphobic in who they select as their workers.

Actually forbidden to leave? That’s pretty crazy. Plus that means they need food and boarding which is a whole extra expense.

The “ranches” sound like they are way worse for women! 50% of your pay and you’re a prisoner! Nooo!!

Great analysis as always. The Nevada system is so effed up. You also have to be female bodied, because of how the testing requirements are written. And of course the testing and licensing is very expensive, requiring a substantial upfront investment (and if I recall correctly you also have to pay rent in advance to the ranch).

They also get in debt if they haven't had bookings. The daily cost of rent etc builds up if they aren't chosen in line ups

No way I could do this. I love my independence and keeping all my earnings. Sadly we just don’t get the protections.

Not to mention they have to pay for all their own supplies too on top of having to decorate/dress the rooms themselves down to the curtains. Like imagine having to remember to bring curtains to your week work trip

Brothels are notoriously unsafe for women, regardless of how much the establishment insists management is always going to step in if the worker is in danger. There are horror stories.

My take on the Nevada system is “we’re told p*mping is wrong unless the State is doing it.” 🫩 the Nevada system is just State-sponsored p*mping with more steps/bureaucracy. I wish it worked as well as people think it does but it’s just another mode of someone exploiting and profiting off of SW’s valuable labor

At the ranches I was told they also have to pay from their own $ to see the doctor anytime they leave bc of testing laws before they can work

People do not realize how it works in Nevada at all, so many people are under the impression it’s legal in Reno and Las Vegas when those counties are explicitly excluded and where most of the population lives.

also, doing such physically and emotionally demanding labor for 7-10 days straight is like, extremely exhausting. I've done field work where I had to work everyday for weeks on end, it feels like hell.

The Bunnyranch does allow you to leave when your not on shift or sometimes when you are on shift . Also the rates are much higher ($5000 an hour) . So

We have the same laws for said Night clubs in north Cyprus(its the tukish side) you have to stay in one room at the club and they take your passport and legally you aren’t allowed to leave and for girls from other countries its a work visa so it gets even more serious
