@mmmary_ley: Vulnerable post because I’ve been embarrassed of the appearance of me seizing.. but I’m no longer going to be ashamed of how I look in a seizure. Prior to seizure, I explained my aura symptoms which were mouth numbness, crescent shapes in vision on right side, heightened awareness of arms/legs, impeding doom. I had to cut video down to fit here since I could just watch it and explain what I mentioned prior to this. It’s epilepsy awareness month. Watch a VNS go to work in a focal seizure that began to generalize before VNS intervention. Awareness not intact here. My seizures manifest this way when they begin in the left temporal and parietal lobe. Gagging appears to happen when it’s swiped but I’m not aware. One arm in a tonic position tends to happen when my motor senses become involved and cause arrhythmic tonic activity, while still not generalized across the brain. Jerking is consistently on right side in all my focal seizures. Although you cannot see my face, my face usually shows fixed right eyed deviation which helps point to it starting on the left. When these seizures cluster, they can and often do generalize in my case. This is my brother helping me through one. Gagging & chewing continues post seizure although awareness is still not intact. Seizures are not the drama you see on TV. #VNS #focalseizures
