@colombiaone: 🥊 Kid Pambelé: Colombia’s First World Boxing Champion Antonio Cervantes, better known as Kid Pambelé, holds a distinguished place in Colombia’s sporting history as the nation’s first world boxing champion. Born in San Basilio de Palenque, a village with deep cultural and historical significance, Pambelé’s journey from poverty to global fame became a story of perseverance and pride. His career began in Cartagena, where his natural talent quickly stood out. By 1965, he had already captured the national lightweight title. In 1972, Pambelé made history by defeating WBA light welterweight champion Rodolfo “Gato” González — becoming the first Colombian and the first Afro-Colombian to win a world boxing title. That victory transcended sports, turning him into a national icon and a symbol of hope for millions of Colombians. 🇨🇴See the full story at ColombiaOne.com #ColombiaOne #KidPambele #AntonioCervantes #ColombianLegend #BoxingHistory
