Kids at my school struggle to get their own FFA jacket since its a low income area, it frustrates me seeing people not even in FFA wearing a jacket when they can donate it to the school it was from to help some kid out with money. Its 60 bucks for christ sake!

I was excluded from the FFA by other FFA students because they had more seniority. In my senior year the school cancelled the FFA program and the Agriculture class because there were not enough new students to keep the class running. The students with seniority always made new students feel unwelcomed and they even banned students from buying the FFA JACKET.

As a former FFA member to one of the best chapters in the state of WI…it’s so disrespectful to wear the jacket without official dress…black pants/skirt, white dress shirt, and FFA tie/scarf.

the jacket is meant for official events and active members remember to donate yours to the chapter or keep it put away after you are no longer a active member

fashion has been "stealing" or replication clothes of the working community for years - think jeans with holes. but this is something you have to earn... it sits different to think about.

Rural high schooler here. Classmates drove their tractors to school on FFA Day. Our nickname was Cowpie High. I was not a farmer, but this is kind of like stolen valor for farmers. 😑 Don’t you be wearing that jacket if you didn’t birth a breech calf at 3am.

As an Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor I feel as if it is my duty to inform everyone in the comments that most are correct in their education that only current FFA members are to wear the jacket. It is full of heritage and meaning deeper than a fashion statement. It is only to be worn with the full official dress and for FFA events. I would love to talk to or advise others on this if there are any questions concerning my stance. The image attached is from the Official FFA Manual from National FFA.

According to our bylaws it can only be warn if you remove all stitching and patterns. Otherwise it is not a fashion piece. It is still an active uniform and unless you are wearing full official dress it is improper
