Those silly questions aren’t silly questions btw, a police officers presence alone often deters crime. Especially if we see a person in an area like a parking lot of a closed bank, or store. The person (if) they were thinking of burglarizing or robbing a place likely won’t because they were approached. The standard line of questioning is simply there to let you know that your behavior stands out like a sore thumb, and it makes many potential criminals rethink their next move.
