I’ve been in construction for a while. I would be hard pressed to buy a new build. A flipper house? After three separate inspections. Go with an older home and do the work yourself. Learn and save money and time.

I just don’t want my property taxes to price me out of my home because they don’t estimate them correctly on new builds because a lot is way less before the house is on it.

It’s all across the board. Not just construction. Products for sale as well. It’s all about maximizing profits while the same products are produced cheaper. And where materials can’t be cheaper, they do it with cheap labor.

most of that is aggravating, however I will say, where we live the gas company installs the meter and we have to connect to it. regardless of where they put it. And they really don't give 2 Fs about it

Fun fact I learned, only zoning or construction laws in Madison Co, AL is your septic tank. Can do whatever you want in building. These houses go for more than worth and you can't know if it i even safe.

builder buys plans from an outside architect, in house designers gut them so they're cheaper to build, sales specs finishes and materials without much construction knowledge, subs build their individual parts with no real direction on the overall product.

Just fyi, most Americans don’t own a “brick home,” they own a wood and drywall home with brick facing. The brick is just for looks, not structural support.
