yes- harry potter!!! my brothers and i all read hp around age 9 and it was such a positive experience!! the early books are really whimsical and not scary- i think 9 actually would be the perfect age to start! even with just the first 2 or 3 books!! just a positive and imaginative series and those and hunger games (though it feels scary to let kids read) are truly what made me fall in love with reading at an early age!!
