The Gravy does a lot of heavy lifting. But much of British food has emphasis on the natural flavour of its ingredients, so I was expecting him to pull the bland card.

When it comes to English food, you get the best flavour when you eat everything together. A bit of beef, potatoes veggies, gravy together builds a flavour but individually may taste bland.

The British palette is more accustomed to the natural flavours of the food. We like to taste what we are eating so a carrot will taste like a carrot, potato will taste like potato, but we do dabble is flavoured gravies and sauces, we do use herbs and spices, but they are there to compliment what we eat, not mask it entirely.
