They both have the same power it’s a 3nm of torque difference with the xr6 turbo having 533nm and the ss having 530 they both have 270 kw (from factory)

One of the best engines we have ever built, the Barra. Shame that we couldn't continue manufacturing both Falcons and Commodores. These would of been successful in Canada, U S and most of Europe.

It's the V8 on full song for me. Respect the Turbo Barras but it's a V8 everyday & I'll include a Falcon XR8 in the mix as well.

v8 engine has way more potential even in stock form better to drive barras are a good engine and perform with a turbo but they're no v8.

The Turbo was mine and I was racing that day 12 years ago. The car was stock off ford dealership and just out of its warranty. Massive wheelspin hence the bad takeoff and slowest time ever..in stock form ran 13.1s to 13.0. The holden was modded and tuned..
