Hey man, fine woodworker and furniture maker here. Yeah you really really need to put a finish on that walnut. Otherwise you’re going to have a bad time. And by bad time possibly damage or split it, especially on those corners. Those corners will continue to dry out over time and become more brittle. And I imagine you don’t want to have to purchase what looks like 8/4 Walnut. Please use Rubio’s monocoat natural, as it will preserve the wood and allow the color to naturally pop. I beg that you do not use a product like minwax from Home Depot or Lowe’s, that will not last, and given the money you’ve already spent use product that will protect that investment.

Just wait until you realize that a planer only gets one side of the wood flat, and that you need a jointer + planer to accomplish true flatness, then the full crash out hits. Also the rounded corners are 🤌🏼
