I do want kids. I always wanted them growing up and still do. But the world we live and what goes on made me decide not to. I don’t want to bring a child into the world with how it is right now. I can’t guarantee they won’t suffer.

I started lying and telling people I can’t have any and they get uncomfortable and don’t ask me further questions😂 I have a lot of health problems so it’s very believable that I would have issues there as well lol

So many of us are dealing with the trauma of our parents only having us because that’s what they were “supposed” to do, not because they actually wanted us! You don’t owe them anything, this is your life but I beg you don’t have children unless YOU want them! Otherwise you will end up resenting them

I blurted it out when I was 16. I got the same thing; selfish, you'll change your mind. I just shrugged and said "we'll see." If they ask about it just say "not going to talk about it" and "it's none of your business." I'm 54 and child free. I've always been vocal about it. I'm ecstatic that I never changed my mind.

My two daughters have told me they don't want my life, I understand. I worked two jobs to provide for them, they know any women could end up in the same situation. Motherhood is just to risky.

My son told me first as I handle news better than my husband. Of course I am accepting and supportive so I applauded his choice. I explained to my husband that we don’t get to decide our son’s future.

I'm a 40-year-old child-free woman. My parents used to object to me not having children, and I'm so glad I did not listen. My brother now has a wife with children, and my parents cannot stand the child. My parents did not want a grandchild, they just wanted the title. they are not nurturing people, they did not nurture me. I'm so grateful I did not bring another person into the world to appease them

I don’t understand why people feel like they have to announce it to anyone (other than their partner of ofc), it’s not like coming out. Just keep living your life not having kids and let them keep wondering

I stayed firm on my decision and did not waiver or ever agree with anyone when they said it was a phase and I would change my mind. My parents weren’t happy at first but they eventually conceded and realized I was serious and nothing they could say or do would change my mind. I set firm boundaries and they realized to maintain a relationship with me, they needed to leave the child topic alone. 33 and got spayed in January and I finally feel at peace with knowing I genuinely can never get pregnant now.

Choose your battles darling. I was always vocal about me not wanting kids and heard all the same things. But with people like that in your life, sometimes it’s best to just say „maybe one day“ or „eventually“ & just never have any. Only discuss with (potential) partners (as early as possible imo).

My dad said to me after 1 year of being married “is about time you start having children” I said is not and it will never be, I’m not having children ever! He gave me a look and said “then what did you get married for?” I said not to have children, and since is not you the one who will raise them is best you never ask me for children again, that was 14 years ago 😌

I’m 25 and grew up in a similar household. I had my tubes removed back in May. My mom cried when I told her but ended up being the one to care for me after surgery. My dad surprisingly understood, probably because he knows he’s a sh*tty person and passed his anger down to me. Do what makes you happy, don’t get stuck in a commitment you don’t want. Choose you 💕
