That light is not for low oil pressure. It’s for no oil pressure. 😆

Had this issue with my ‘11 impala. Ended up just being a bad oil cap.

does the wire have good continuity? I would check that just to make sure

Wouldn’t have taken an extra 5-10 min to hook up a mechanical gauge.

OL doesnt necessarily mean it lacks continuity, it just means that the resistance(in this case anyways, can also do this for the other units) is out of the limits that it can provide a readout for.

the last thing you want that light to be on is for having low oil. if your engine got so low on oil the light came on that engine will most likely have suffered damage

dude. could be a clogged filter. bad oil pickup oring if it has one... bad wiring. so many other things then a bad motor. put in a mechanical gauge and see the true pressure.

Great testing brother all thing is I wouldn’t like to do that kind of testing with the switch because engines usually have about 40 to 60 oil pressure and you’re sending about 120 like double so you might be able to sell enough pressure but that doesn’t mean like just give some double pressure. Yeah it’s gonna go through.

oil will not cause a short. oil is not conductive. if there is oil in the connector, that means the oil pressure switch is broken

same van had an intermittent oil light. Change the filter, use only the best filter u can buy and I bet they won't see that light again. I swapped my filter to a Mopar one and never seen the light again.

Even though it may not be the case this time but the sensor could have been bad from the store. I once had to install three different starters from three different parts stores because the first two were DOA
