They changed the coffee recipe a few years ago when they were bought by an American company if I'm not mistaken. Their original coffee is now sold at McDonald's - that's where the decent coffee is now

The thing you need to do in Montreal is get Montreal bagels. Go to st viateur and fairmont, they are right near each other. You will need Canadian cash for those spots.

Tim Hortons used to be Canadian owned with fairly good coffee, but it was bought out, a lot of the menu changed, and the coffee is unimpressive now. But I do like their Apple fritters. You are in Montreal, so there will be many coffee shops to choose from with excellent coffee and nibbles.
