I started this a few years ago. I started thrifting as many intentional small gifts and baskets for all my handmade gifts i made family. Last year i made simmer pot kits, beer bread jars, strawberry jam, herb butter and homemade dog treats my grandpuppies- I also included thoughtful gifts for each person i got at craft shows, thrifting, like books, etc. i made paper chain decorations and this year i am making dried orange and cinnamon stick garland- it is definitely a little women Christmas! I LOVE my version of thriftmas and making handmade goodies.

My parents had no money when they first started out. So my mom sewed and stuffed all the Christmas ornaments. I don’t even remember having “real” ornaments growing up. The basement flooded years ago and ruined all but 1 ornament that just happened to be upstairs. It’s honestly one of my most treasured ornaments and always gets put front and center.

I said this just last week. It’s a huge recession indicator & then I ranted how some people I’ve seen are trying to turn it into a trend. Like sis. We’re all poor. You can say you are too. 😂

I don’t know if it’s a recession indicator, or an awakening. All that plastic crap we buy just seems so wasteful and unnecessary now.

For me, I’ve had to look at all the things I’ve spent $$ on and all the crap I see being sold on here to get to a point of being grossed out by it all. My 8 year old has joined in on crafting & has made me the most precious garlands that I’m laminating. It’s so much better.

I had Molly (ww2 era) and she dealt with rations, victory gardens, dad deployed, etc. Wish she had taught us more ab fascism, maybe we could have avoided this mess.
