Thank God! Zero income for over a month while working 40+ hrs a week takes far more than a financial toll. This is the first Thanksgiving since my mom passed away and I couldn’t afford to buy a plane ticket home to be with my family because of the actions of others. That’s the collateral damage people don’t acknowledge. Thank you to those that have worked so hard to get the government open and to get food back on the tables of American families. To those that voted ‘no’ repeatedly to fund your federal workforce: I hope you have the day you deserve and Bless your hearts.
