@things_neverseen: They thought they were completely alone at sea until something surfaced that shouldn’t have been there. 😬 The periscope you see belonged to a U.S. Navy attack submarine, a vessel built for stealth, surveillance, and silent deterrence. These subs operate for months without being seen, and when they briefly surface, it’s rarely by accident. So why did it happen here? Most likely, the submarine was conducting a periscope-level reconnaissance or a satellite communication test, temporarily surfacing to verify its coordinates or calibrate sensors. It may have also been gathering optical data, taking high-resolution imagery of nearby vessels to test stabilization and distance optics. To witness this in person is almost unheard of. Submarines are designed to remain invisible, even to ships passing just a few hundred meters above them. For a brief moment, they caught a glimpse of what’s never meant to be seen. #technology #military #engineering #foryoupage #submarine
