A few things. 1. Paul was using the Philosophical and Religious beliefs of the people of the day as a starting point for his argument in evangelism. That’s not a proof text saying that we should be doing that in corporate worship. As the primary purpose of corporate worship is not to evangelize. 2. Then assuming that we are using it in the context of a Bible study or Youth group instead, I think you missed the major theme of the song. It starts with the rejection of all societal and spiritual expectations with the end goal of ascending about their authority. “What’s a god to a king, what’s a king to a non-believer who doesn’t believe in anything” the song then goes on to portray that lifestyle. Humans weren’t designed to function without any authority so he submits to his desire “I live by you, desire” (it’s not completely clear whether this is a woman or his own desires but it it symbolizes his desires either way). He forms a new religion. But at the end he realizes. “When we die, the money we can’t keep. But we’ll probably spend it all cause the pain ain’t cheap” this lifestyle and rejection of God didn’t fix the pain or give him something worthwhile, it gave him more pain and left him with nothing in the end. It was bad when he started and it ended up worse. Jesus is the solution, living in love and submission to him gives us more joy and lasting peace than anything else could. Rather than trying to break his bonds from us (Ps. 2:3) We gain the easy yoke and light burden that comes with Christ and in so doing we have purpose to live for Christ in Love and Joy and Peace even if there is pain it is for our growth and our eternal good in order to be more like Christ. Now because of that we should be the church in the wild we’re called to go out and love these people like the person in the song, to show them that their current ways are fruitless and help them out of it with love and patience. And most importantly point them to Christ

I mean, to Paul, it’s not everyday he can geek out on Greek literature AND share the Gospel at the same time; much like how some groups go into anime/comic book conventions to share and demonstrate the love of God.

I love this! I think every single thing whether it's a movie, poem, novel, kind action, a smile, and persons, can be a God lesson. There is always something all of us humans can learn, no matter our belief and whether we agree or not. And if we are the hands and feet of Jesus, then that essentially makes us the church, not the building. But in order for us to behave as Jesus would, and to see the messages that might seem hidden or buried in prose, we must know who Jesus is and be a recipient of his unconditional and constant love. Then we are able to see Him in all and able to give to others because our container is full. Probably rambled and got off topic here - I'll play the old lady card 😂
