Because the comment section is to full I will just ask. What if I use my iPhone or iPad with davinci resolve monitor? Wouldn’t that show me accurate color if I use it for those devices anyway?

Just switch your color space to REC.709A the A is for Apple and will make it so what you see on your Mac screen is the exact same as what will export. You can change the setting under color management tab in timeline settings

The fact that anyone color grades in any other display profile other than P3-D65 on their Mac displays is also wild. Don’t edit in pro res or any default profile

Macbook is probably the best you can use. Also majority of people view on an iPhone so why wouldn’t you want to match that?

Turn off True Tone and use scopes to color grade. And just because that’s an external monitor doesn’t mean it’s true to color. Every monitor screen is different

I only saw 2 comments on this, but the main trick is changing your MacBook display settings to HDTV rec709 bt1886 and you’re good to go!

Actually, MacBooks have multiple color profiles/reference modes you can switch between in the settings, like Display P3, sRGB, or Rec.709.

I discovered that the MacBook transmits its TrueTone colors to an external screen. My external OLED screen only had its original colors when I closed my MacBook screen.

I saw this the first time on the M silicon. You can got to Display Settings & select the appropriate color profile. But no brightness control when you select a proper colour profile like D3.

the external monitor is also lying to you. You would need to get a Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4k connected to a calibrated BT.709 reference monitor.

If True Tone is off, it’s about as close to accurate as you can get. Your external is likely way off.
