Me too, Edwardian woman 🤣 This is a beautiful Edwardian corset from the collection at @History Colorado . The corset has steel bones, satin channels, and is made of the softest silk. It’s trimmed in eyelet lace that has a satin ribbon. Based on the measurements, she was probably under 5’5” but with a bust size more than 4” larger than her underbust, making her a modern D cup band size(or larger). The alteration was completed skillfully. She removed the lace, added the darts, and then replaced the lace. It doesn’t seem like this was ever worn. Even after all that work, she gave up on it. I looked at this corset for my line and considered recreating it. It’s made to sit mid-bust, so right over the bust point. That makes it unsellable. To adapt it to a mainstream fashion buyer, I would have to change the pattern to go over the bust. I’m not against doing this. Currently I’m working with a pattern maker to adapt a similar style corset (satin covered boning channels) from the same museum.
