I think single parents need someone who isn’t looking for a partner to complete them. They’re looking for someone who’s wanting someone to add to their already fulfilled life. Where being together is a perk not a necessity. Yes they’d be loving and devoted, but not dependent. I think that makes sense?

I’m getting married to a dad, these are all very odd, we’re a full family, I do drop off and pick ups, and the kids other parent are their other full family. Your partner shouldn’t be some side character, their existence is just as important and if a single parent wants to date they need to respect the person they meet, not set a whole load of conditions. You should be grateful to meet someone who is open to taking on your kids because that’s a very selfless thing to do and it’s not for the weak, we deserve adult respect.

I get everything but the picking up children from school… of course it takes time, but… I think it is lovely to share moments like that with the person you love. Don’t forget your new partner is also a main character, maybe not to your children’s life’s but to yours. Sounds like you want to keep that person as a co star and not give her the role she/he deserves. Not all step mums are witches either and are trying to steal you from your children
