@aircrashbriefs: In 2005, Helios Airways Flight 522 took off from Cyprus to Athens. Soon after takeoff, the crew failed to notice the pressurization system was set to manual. Oxygen began to run out — passengers and crew slowly fell unconscious. The plane kept flying on autopilot for hours, completely silent. Fighter jets were sent to intercept it… and saw everyone inside, motionless. A flight attendant, still barely awake, tried to save the aircraft — but minutes later, the Boeing 737 crashed, killing all 121 people on board. The world called it… the Ghost Plane. ⸻ #Helios522 #GhostPlane #AviationMystery #FlightDisaster #PlaneStory

This one genuinely baffles me, why wouldn’t a member of cabin crew ask what is going on. They would’ve descended surely ?

Doesn't make sense tho why he didnt do anything for those 2 hours if he was awake 🤔
I get he was used to oxygen deprivation because he was a diver but that means he was just sitting there doing nothing for over 2 hour's and then all of a sudden decided to get up and set the plane down. 🤷♀️if he had gotten up straight away and in there and decended quickly the pilots could have started to wake up or he could have glided low for long enough to get everyone help.

I am a flight attendant, and our instructor while on training, mention this incident, this is one of the worst scenarios in aviation where there is slow decompression happening in the cabin and it’s called the silent death. The reason is called the silent death because that there is no sign and symptoms that there is a loss of oxygen inside the cabin so all who’s in the cabin will go in deep sleep because of low oxygen loss, but there is some ways to recognize it to cross check some sign and symptoms, physically like fatigue, numbness, and dizziness, if anybody feel that then the crew should cross check with other crew and inform the captain immediately so the captain will declare emergency descent he will start to descent to A safe altitude which is 10000 feet above ground level.
