Death had for them no terrors ; there was no uncertain future to be faced. There was simply a more or less prolonged struggle and then a change of residence to a spirit worldsimilar in all respects to this, where they would continue the old life amongst their own people ; and it is not surprising that they should prefer this to a life of unknown, and consequently dreaded, terrors in another sphere.
