A1EX Bateman :
I like the lore behind him using LS because in his prime he used GS but as he aged it became too heavy for him so he switched to LS that kind of detail adds a whole layer of immersion and depth as I would imagine many hunters would change their weapons throughout their career for various reasons, aging, injuries and even boredom of having mastered one weapon and wanting a challenge again.

I think the reason why he uses a long sword now is because that he’s gotten so old and he’s not as strong as he was back then, he used to wield a great sword I believe

Only real reason I was ever able to use the longsword was because I was not good with anything else, when I started MH world back in 2019 I was actually wanting to be a charge blade main since it looked really cool but I could never get it down, I was getting rocked in hunts and was never able to get passed anja, I almost gave up until I tried long sword, the weapon almost felt natural to me as I instantly learned its combos and eventually killed the anja, i eventually learned every weapon and mastered them finally but to this day longsword holds a place in my heart as the one weapon that came more naturally to me than others.
