@suzannemariedesigns: Jules Bianchi's crash was one of the most tragic moments in modern Formula 1 history. During the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, heavy rain made the track extremely slippery. On lap 43, Bianchi lost control of his Marussia MRO3 and slid off the track at high speed - right into a recovery vehicle that was removing another car (Adrian Sutil's Sauber) from the same corner. The impact was devastating. Jules suffered a severe diffuse axonal injury (brain injury) and fell into a coma. Despite months of treatment and hope from fans and drivers around the world, he tragically passed away on July 17, 2015, at just 25 years old - becoming the first F1 driver to die from race-related injuries since Ayrton Senna in 1994. His legacy lives on. The halo cockpit protection system, introduced a few years later, was partly inspired by the mission to prevent accidents like his.
