not that you have to like the movie or anything but they were meat chickens who were going to die anyways and they did eat them afterwards. i totally get if you're a vegetarian and have a more principled opposition to animal death but i also think a lot of people have a mental disconnect when it comes to the food that they eat just because it's already killed for them and they dont have to see it.

i understand you twn! the way they killed the chickens were brutal and slow. you’re not crazy to not wanna watch something get killed just for entertainment.. i watched pink flamingos and i found it entertaining but i also hated that scene 💔

Pink Flamingos was made in a time where animal rights were terrible, esp for animals like birds or fish, it actually helped bring attention to the issue bc it was so controversial. John Waters went out of his way to seek out slaughter chickens that were also going to die horrifically. Friday the 13th, on the other hand, killed somebody's pet snake in front of them and went on to become one of the most iconic titles in the slasher genre.

Never knew about that scene I always avoided it because I heard someone eats actual feces on screen. I love other John Waters movies I’ve seen but that’s too much for me. Not even my Tom Green loving ass wants to watch someone eat feces.

the film is a monumental piece of work that is near and dear to queer and trans people who (sorry) go through far more on a daily basis then one damn chicken. also if you eat meat or animal products this is a non issue as well. you’re totally allowed to not be okay with it and if you don’t wanna watch it then don’t, but it doesn’t make you in any way morally superior than its fans nor should you undermine the film.
