My husband's coworker has a letter framed on his desk from a kid that drew an amazing tank complete with "abrams" on the side. It has an arrow pointing inside the tank that says "you," and is blowing up stick people. The last sentence says "I'm sending money so you can buy cigs or dip but my teacher doesn't know. I hope you make it home." He still has the $2 also.

What people didn’t realize- most of us kept these school letters, it meant so much to us. I still have mine from multiple kids and packages.

I still have mine in my foot locker. My favorite one. “Dear Veteran I’m glad you didn’t die” I will have that letter forever

OMG... I remember doing this for the Gulf war when I was in 6th grade. At age 46, I still think about the guy I wrote to. When I was in college I tried to find him, but no luck. I hope he Alice, well and happy ❤ It was memorable to me too.

I was 15 yrs old when my brother left to Iraq I went to the.liquor store and put a care package. and wanted to buy a log if dip the old man behind the counter started to tear up and gave me 6 logs of skoal and put a small letter that said from the boys back in nam make it back boys.

Love your page and didn’t realize you were a Veteran. I wrote one of those to a soldier in early 90s. This was truly touching. A sincere thank you for your service!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

This is awesome. I got a bunch of letters from my kid’s school. Every kid that sent me a letter and gave their home address got a personalized letter from me. If they gave a “class address”, I thanked them in a letter to their class. After I got home, a lot of the parents who met me shared that their kids thought it was “a big deal” to get a letter back. The moral here is we just don’t know who we can touch but we should still reach out!
