newborns are not aware of facial expressions... muscle / nervous system new and un'developed, as eye sight, movements are not controlled.. newborns are born with hyper hearing, smell, quick to learn, built in survival instincts/ open mouth & tongue will root for food / cheeks and chin when touched activates the reflex search for nutrients open mouth.... learning communication by voice cry is babies only defense and guidance
