Re: exercise, another tip is I tell myself I GET to do this, my body can move, legs work, arms etc. makes me more grateful knowing there’s people who would give anything to be able to do a spin class etc.

10 years ago my therapist prescribed me a month of not doing anything i don’t want to do. Most things fell into this category. I thought it through and decided if i wanted to do it. I still did most of the things, i just realized why i wanted to do them. A few things fell by the wayside for good reason.

I’ve changed my self talk to “I am.” So I’ll say to myself, “Well, I am someone who walks everyday.” “I am someone who takes my vitamins.” “I am a great pet mom.” So it makes my brain think going against those things is not who I am. Definitely changes the energy I want to give to those tasks.

This is a great tip!! I also had a therapist once make me stop and question all of the “shoulds”. Like I’m feeling guilty because I “should” do a thing but who says so? Is it truly a need or is it self imposed or would it just be a nice extra? And cutting myself a break accordingly
