@dr.yousufzafar: If you have cancer, you’ve probably gotten at least one CT scan, MRI, or PET scan. But what’s the difference in the scans watch all the way through for pics and explanations. #cancer ##ctscan##mri##cancertok##oncology

Why do they only do a CT scan to check how the cancer is responding to chemo rather than CT and PET scan? (My dad diagnosed stage 4 oesophageal- spread only showed on PET scan, NOT CT scan)

So what’s the pro/con over a CT or a PET SCAN vs a combo CT/petscan. Why would you want just one and not both?

I've had multiple CTs and MRIs. Diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer of the appendix. Would I benefit from a PET scan?

Petscan showed lung nodules and pointed one out primary source of malignancy.

I had a CT scan. Results were a 9mm irregular density nodule on my lingula left lung and a 8mm biolobed nodule also in the left lung. I have an appointment with a pulmonologist next week to hopefully have more testing to see if it is cancer.

My sarcoidosis lit up my PET like a Christmas tree lol and they thought i was dying. but the CT scan showed the structures weren't compressive or necrotic that's how they said it's maybe sarcoidosis because it didn't follow the usual metastatic path of my type of cancer. however it was later confirmed by a biopsy using EBUS-TBNA 😀

If you had a mri do you need a pet scan or ct scan to check for cancer? The ct scan shows the size and organ size ?

I’ve been given both CT and PET scans and they seem to use them interchangeably for seeing the current status of my cancer. But it is nice to finally know the difference!

I was told by my onco that pet scan is the most expensive. So if insurance doesn’t cover it he would do a ct with bone scan instead. But so far they’ve covered it every 6 months. Ct lines u up before u get your pet scan with injectable tracer.

I’ve had all of these scans over the last year, my most recent showed no signs of disease currently. What’s the best scan for monitoring going forwards?
