I HATEEEE phonology, phonetics, and all of that. And I’m only a senior in my undergraduate. But that’s why I wanna go into feeding and swallowing or rehab care for strokes, TBI, and what not. Because you got me messed up if I dealing with language 24 hours everyday with little kids.

Why are y’all offended she doesn’t want to be an SLP as if we don’t need audiologists too. Becoming an audiologist is hard AF…not saying becoming an SLP wasn’t difficult too ..but y’all are being annoying & sensitive as hell for no reason…

As a future audiologist, I think audiology defs gives one a better work/life balance (no planning or homework necessary). The major downside (to me) about this profession is that it is 50% healthcare, 50% business. Didn’t know that when I signed up to be a clinician I was also signing up to be a salesperson 🥲

I think you would have enjoyed medical SLP! I work in acute care and neverrrrrr think about speech sounds except maybe with overarticulation strategies for dysarthria!

I love being an SLP but I did some hours with an audiologist and I really loved it. I just didn’t want to do the extra schooling as I wanted to work. Maybe I should go back

Literally going back to my linguistics masters to write about language deprivation syndrome when all along I wanted to study audiology until I sat in a class and realized how ableist it was. Easiest switch in my life and now work w autistic kids on defeating language deprivation syndrome while writing ab how we should abolish audiology in the field of SLPA's lol 😭

I almost did the switch too! My sister is an Aud but I chose to continue w speech. I’m in the medical part of the field so no phonology (and kids) for me😁

I chose SLP 32 years ago because there are so many more options of settings/disorders. Still love it & have tried every setting and every disorder. I need variety. 🤭 Everyone has to find their own happiness.😀

You know, there's a hige shortage of ASL fluent, Desf culture aware audiologists. We struggle where I live. you could carve out a great niche!

I observed an audiologist as a SLP student and she was the most evil person I’ve ever met, and just sat there taking audiology grams all day. I knew there that wasn’t my future, but everyone is different 😭
