@crmnallyobsessed: After more than six decades of unanswered questions, a renewed search is underway for Sgt. James Lee Haynes, a U.S. Army soldier and Purple Heart recipient, who vanished in December 1963 near the Raleigh-Wyoming county line. Sgt. Haynes was home from Germany in December of 1963 and hitchhiking from Baltimore to visit his parents in Saulsville, WV when he stopped at a tavern in the Bolt Mountain area. While at the tavern he got into a fight with three men and was never seen again. One of those men was later arrested in 1971 but deemed incompetent to stand trial, and the case was dismissed. This November, dozens of volunteers, local law enforcement, the United States Army Criminal Investigation and cadaver dogs conducted a search for new evidence in Bolt Mountain at the Raleigh-Wyoming line. Two specially-trained dogs, a German Shepherd named Theo and a Border Collie named Charlee from K9 Search & Rescue Services of West Virginia, Inc. were brought in for the search. The K9S didn’t find anything at the Little Bolt site but alerted a spot outside a home once owned by a suspect. The spot was sprayed with a chemical that reacts to blood and indicated there was the presence of blood, so samples have been sent for lab analysis. This finding has brought fresh hope of closure for his twin daughters who were just a year-and-a-half when he disappeared.
