Permissive parenting pisses me off so much, because so much of the general public thinks THAT is gentle parenting. I’m a gentle parent, but believe this kind of behavior isn’t allowed whatsoever

I need parents to understand that their kids aren't born speaking the same language as the parents. They don't know what "stop" "don't" and "no" mean. Correct your kid's behavior, don't just make sounds at them

Most ppl don’t seem to understand that children NEEEEEEEEEED boundaries. It gives them a sense of stability, security, and being cared for (even if they don’t understand it that way). Basic child development study will give you that info

“You are not being safe. I am keeping us safe.” I hold their hands until the behavior is done. Also, there are cues BEFORE these things happen. “I see you’re bouncing a lot. I’m going to give you a big squeeze now.” And follow with “If you feel like you need a squeeze, you can ask ‘mom, squeeeeeeze?’ and I’ll give you one!”

Watch any animal parent in the wild. Do they hug their young when their young acts up? Nah. They immediately address the bad behavior by growling, pushing them away with their foot, or grabbing them by their scruff. The translation into English is stopping the bad behavior (not hurting them or having aggressive intentions). Its showing them that you will not allow them to keep hurting you or someone else. Its okay to SAY it out loud: "I will not allow you to keep hurting me/others". If you stay consistent, they learn.
