All I know is that WW2 vets, titanic survivors, etc. all could recite memories to the minute detail 50+ years after it happened.. and that’s without divine work at play

Decades isn't that long... especially if they have been verbally telling everyone that they see within that time.

You have no original pages of any gospels, no idea who wrote them.

The authors of the New Testament were not the disciples. This is what decades of scholarship on the subject supports

Mark wasn’t written until 69/70 CE. They weren’t the disciples.

My thing is if someone writes their own memoir at 60 about their childhood we would never say they are unreliable this is just a standard we have cause of theology

I feel like it’s similar to someone who was present at an event in 2000 writing about said event in 2025

All of the main literature we have about Alexander the Great was written something like 250-300 years afterwards. Yet we don't really question that.

not to mention a modern day example; anyone who was alive and had the conscious ability to process what happened on 9/11 can tell you exactly where they were when it happened, what they saw, and it would line up with others’ experiences that were in similar situations, along with the actual timeline and reality of what happened historically. that was decades ago as well.

No one writes their memoir in their 40s. They sit down to write it when their health starts to fail.

Alexander the Great died in 323 BC, the earliest accounts that we have are from the first and second century AD

Keep in mind that at the time they were written, about 2% of the world's population was literate. It would also cost about $12,000 in today's money to have all these writings together. The fact that it was written down at great cost, shows how important it was at that time.

John 21:25 “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” they only had to remember a few key events out of many that happened

historical consensus even among biblical scholars is that the first Gospel of Mark was written at about 70CE, which would be about 40 years after Jesus is supposed death. now, playing on the memory idea, can you tell me word for word an entire conversation that you had yesterday?

in my own study too, I actually think that the fact that there are differing details in the different gospel accounts actually lend credibility to the fact that they were eyewitness accounts because most eyewitness accounts when compared to one another have differing details because this is an aspect of human memory you would think if these were collusion or made up later, those colluding would check and make sure everything lined up clearly ie. it lends credence to the historical reliability and authenticity to the gospels in my opinion

Couldn’t the telephone thing still apply to some parts of the Gospels, as Mark and Luke were not apostles and so therefore weren’t actually eyewitnesses to the events they describe? Meaning they must’ve heard them from someone else rather than their own experience?
