People mistake their lack of capacity for authority, trying to shrink others down to fit their smallness. I speak another language because I can. When I choose to speak yours, it’s only because it’s the one you understand. That’s your limitation, not mine. The world is far bigger than someone else’s insecurities, and if hearing a language you don’t know makes you uncomfortable, that’s not my burden to carry.
