i've heard using poster boards do better, get poster boards and use painters tape around it to secure it and then lay the peel and stick over it , if you use to much painters tape it'll stick or the adhesive won't come off, so you can still use it but don't use to much, especially if your going to have it on long term, and make sure all the water spots are sealed, get some white caulk tape and put it round ur toilet and tub to ensure there's no spaces open around those areas!!!

Be really really careful with the sealing on tiles over tile! If even just a little water gets trapped under those layers mold can grow. We have to rip out and redo 2 bathrooms to fix this issue because the people before us didn't properly seal the tile

Be careful! Painters tape adhesive gets stronger over time. Depending on the material of your floor it can be really difficult to remove and take up chunks of walls or floors with it

If you’re there longer than 3 months painters tape will leave a much worse residue 👀 painters tape isn’t meant to be long term, learned this the hard way!
