Sign of dyspraxia too, which is a common comorbidity with ADHD. I held mine in similar way, but instead of resting pencil on the middle finger like you, I rested the on ring finger. I had a permanent bump/callous there well before I finished grade school, tried my best to change my grip, but failed. Lol. Found out I had the adhd/dyspraxia grip like 20yrs after knowing I had adhd. I held the pen/pencil very hard/tight (dyspraxia sign as well), hence the callous forming, ended up permanently changing the shape of my fingernail or nail bed I guess. I remember my teachers trying to show me how to hold it ‘properly’, but to me it looked the same, so I carried on as I was.

I've had a bump on my middle finger since kindergarten! I thought the way I held a writing utensil was normal until now, and I'm 33. My mom has ADHD and we're both certain I do, too, I'm just not diagnosed 🤷♀️

I hold it vertically between my first two fingers and my thumb. I have bad tremors so it's easier to control the pen. (the only other person I have seen who holds it the same way is Taylor Swift lol)

Primary teacher here. Correct pencil grip is pointer finger on top - not two fingers. I agree with the spicy pencil grip though. Another spicy pencil grip is to have all four fingers on top with the thumb on the side

Even with the grip my fingers stay positioned in my normal way, the adhd way 😂 I have a bump on my middle finger from resting my pen there.

Yes I hold it like you do. And I kid you not, every time I had exam blocks, my knuckle on my middle finger would be red raw 😂
