@artem_pankovich: Installing the Timing Chain Correctly - 1.4 TSI VOLKSWAGEN. • In this video, we take a detailed look at the installation process of the timing chain drive components on a Volkswagen 1.4 TSI petrol engine. This is the first generation of the 1.4 TSI engine with a timing chain system, which is known for its common issues - the chain tends to stretch even before 100,000 km, and the chain tensioner has no locking mechanism. • As a result, the chain often jumps on the sprockets, especially after parking the car in gear. Therefore, it’s strongly recommended not to park the car in gear with this engine, as the chain may skip during startup, leading to valve or piston damage. • The timing chain kit includes: • crankshaft sprocket, • exhaust camshaft sprocket, • intake camshaft phase regulator, • chain, guides, tensioner, and damper. • Since camshafts have no keyways, special tools are required for proper alignment - to lock the crankshaft in TDC (Top Dead Center) of the first cylinder and to secure the camshafts in their installation position. • The video shows the entire step-by-step process of assembling and installing the timing chain drive on the Volkswagen 1.4 TSI engine, including correct locking, tensioner installation, and timing verification. • #supermechanik #artempankovich #GHM #goldenhandsmechanic #Autos
