@shaylatalei: For anyone new here — I have gastroparesis (stomach paralysis) caused by CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). My stomach doesn’t move or empty properly, which means I can’t eat or drink without getting extremely sick. Because of that, I rely on TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) — IV nutrition that goes straight into my bloodstream through a central line in my chest. That little bag hanging on my pole? It costs around $1,000 before insurance, and that doesn’t even include the supplies, delivery, or nursing care that come with it. It runs for about 18 hours a day, giving me everything my body needs to survive. Meanwhile, I still cook dinner for my family — tonight’s was about $15 total. It might sound strange to cook when I can’t eat it, but it helps me hold onto a bit of normalcy. I’ve only had this condition for just under 3 years, and before that, life looked a lot more like theirs.
