You are not paying for a seat. You are paying for a set amount of space on a plane. If you need more than 17 inches of width or more legroom than the standard allotment, you must pay the additional cost.

While I understand this, as a larger person due to medical things and am unable to lose weight naturally (no I’m not being lazy. I’ve spent 3+ years doing every diet and exercise plan possible) I think that needs to be taken into accountability. Because why should those who are overweight due to medical issues be punished and forced to buy extra seats due to their body’s failures or medical professionals failures(my weight gain and issues is due to medical professionals failures)

Look this WOULD make sense if the seats were actually the size of the average person. But with airlines shrinking seats in their newer planes the last few years is taking this from being an occasional issue to an a problem for smaller and smaller people. This is not a customer comfort issue this is a greed and cash grab issue from the company

I am a small person and have been the same size for years. I am noticing that some flights the seat is barely larger than me and the seat length is such that it does not touch the back of my knees. This is a bigger issue on shrinking space and airlines attempting to maximize profits.

I don’t care how much weight I lose, my shoulders will always be wider than that seat. Maybe we actually go back to having realistic seat sizes THEN charge if a person still can’t fit??

I was 6 foot 230lbs when I was eating fast food like McDonald’s all I did was cut out McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and other fast food restaurants and now I’m 6 foot 198 pounds in the best shape of my life.
