I'm adopted and it was a really shady adoption. My medical records and adoption records and new birth certificate all had different birthdays listed. I got a call when I was 19 that they needed to know the correct one

My daughter was born in Nov they spelled her name wrong and marked her as a boy. We had to go get a brand new certificate and have her other one completely removed from record. Pro tip go talk to you state representative to get it corrected.

the city of birth on my social security card didnt match my birth certificate. didnt realize this until I got married. soooo that was fun.

They lost the one he filled out so they went to your med records to get as much info. It would have been easier to just let you do it again.

In the uk you book an appointment through the local councils website it’s all done there and then and you get however many copies you pay for there and then at the end of the 20 min or so appointment. You can then order more or replacements online at a later date. You have to physically check and sign a printed copy before they finalise it in the system. After that signature has been entered any changes you have to pay for

that's beyond ridiculous! in New Zealand I registered my sons birth while we were still in the hospital and we got home 5 days later, the next day his birth certificate was delivered by courier. similarly for my daughter who was still born at 22 weeks. I got her a birth certificate too. within days.

so happy in Europe it's all documented and issued online! If anything is assumed wrong the city hall calls mom to confirm! Like with my twins they asked if the spelling of the names is right, and the DoB since that's the same (i guess it was a surprise twins exist 😅)

That's actually crazy to hear as Home Affairs in South Africa is known for being absolutely useless, but we received our son's birth certificate after 2 weeks 100% correct. I had to stand in line outside in the street for 5 hours with a 2 week old to get it, but is was done and correct 😅

They had my name wrong on my daughters birth certificate and apparently it was wrong in the hospital records so I had to call the hospital to get them to change it then had to sign a paper stating her birth certificate was correct after they changed it

Don’t ask that question, I’ve worked with enough people who HAVE messed something up so badly….i worked with someone who lost a kid (preschool) 3 times, 3 different kids, in one year and wasn’t trained differently!

It took my mom over 6 months to get my birth certificate because they refused to put my dad on it because she still had my brother dad's last name (they divorced a yr before I was born) They wanted to contact him before they would even give me my dads last name..... He never responded.... Then they spelled my sisters name wrong when she was born, it was suppose to have 2 nose for Brianna but they only put n's instead of one and wanted to charge her $500 to fix it so it never got fixed but we call her Brianna instead of Briana because that's what it was suppose to be

My son has Down syndrome and the hospital lost his karyotype results because they ran them as “my last name, boy” 🙃
