first off, congrats! secondly... as a trans woman, would you say that this would still be helpful to me? I am inclined to say it is, as I was raised as a man until a very short while ago.

Hi I thought your first chapter was very well written. my only comment is that as a very linear analytic minded person I find a sort of essay style - multiple proposed thoughs followed by the evidence/examples to back up the each proposed thoughts easy to follow as I can refer back to the original statement or proposed way of thinking while I am analyzing the main text body helpfull. although I suppose I am only reading one section of a longer book and having chapters/headings for each chapter to outline the specific course of thinking will keep it easy for me to follow. Thank you for your work Brother 🤟🏼💪🏽

What's your idea currently to release the rest of the book? Are you going to release it chapter by chapter? What's the cadence of releases you predict in this case? what's your guestimate for when the whole book will be published in full?

Hello, since you were asking for feedback, I’m a classics PhD student who studies gender, sexuality and censorship. I enjoyed the reference to Odysseus and masculinity. It matches with how I think about gender for myself because I like to use antiquity as a tool to deconstruct modern gender stereotypes. I think this book could complement your framing: Joel Christensen. The Many-Minded Man: The "Odyssey," Psychology, and the Therapy of Epic. If you wanted to go deeper into masculinity in the Odyssey, you also could look at the characterisation of his son, Telemachus, as he grows from a boy into a man in Odysseus’ absence. And if you wanted to go deeper into the comparison of gender between ancient and modern times, you could look at Odysseus in terms of “classical reception” - how Odysseus is currently/recently understood within western countries and how this has changed over time. If Odysseus is compelling as a figure from antiquity to know about - why is that? Why him over other characters? What political purpose does it serve? e.g. sometimes ancient men are brought up to convince men who are currently alive to go an fight in war by elevating their real lives to the level of myth in order to bypass their guilt/doubt over the justness of the war. Or another way we see Rome get picked up these days is by people who want to weaponise antiquity as a tool of white supremacist racism. So how we construct our understanding of ancient masculinity can sometimes have less to do with the original text and more to do with what purpose it serves to us right now. I understand if your goal is just a footnote rather than a deep dive into a chapter but I would be interested in hearing more of your ancient Greco-Roman references if you would like any feedback on them.
