not low in concientiousness but believe nothing matters and that's part of the joy of life, having many future goals and decent with discipline while knowing I can do whatever I want because in the end it all doesn't matter, when I hear your examples I feel it's a catch 22, what's positive nihilism called?

with so little under control, it’s no wonder nihilism is so pervasive. often comes with a dash of hard determinism. but once you open yourself to it, the idea that very little is within control, you realise there are only so many options if you don’t wish to live miserably; and for most that is rebellion. i think that when you let go of the helplessness that often comes with, and the awareness that there is only so much you can do, stoicism helps reframe the few things you can change (even if only minutely), and ultimately while still “meaningless” per se, this reframing of mind leads to a much more peaceful and valuable way of living. at the end of the day you can still be a nihilist, but when you shift your focus to the present and the intrinsic, it provides much more contentedness. and i would argue that perhaps to a degree even more than our counterparts that have not explored nihilism — freer from the worries of the future or the pull of the past.

when every single authority figure has made it abundantly clear that no matter how hard you work or complete perfection, that it will never be enouph to reach the goal. nihilism becomes the only safe thoughts

I had to turn “nothing matters 😕💔” into “NOTHING MATTERS! 😛” if that makes sense. Still meaningless but at least that means that I am free

This is how I learned I’m low in conscienceness. I always assumed I was high because of my history with vegetarianism, humanitarianism, etc etc. But that’s not what that means apparently?

I recently was reminded “you can always create what you’re seeking.” My perspective has changed. Want more love? Create it. Want more meaning? Create it. Works for me. 🥰

I think you are 100% right here. A few years ago, I had very low consciousness and a very high openness score. I healed myself, traveled through the void and came out full of peace.
I recently retook the big 5 test and my neuroticism went from a 99 to a 1. Plus a bit of an increase in my contentiousness. My openness score had no real room to increase but I am experiencing unlimited openness and creativity.

For me it‘s the opposite. People with low consciousness are just doing what society demands and expect from them. And they obey without thinking. And when they plan their future, then it is on the ground of what other people think and not what they themselves really want, because they have lost themselves a long time ago. The nihilistic on the other side put in question what „normal“ people take for granted.

I’m high openness and low in conciseness. When I survived cancer I went into such a nihilistic phase but I’m way past it now

I’m in the void :( Every time I’ve been here before I knew I should help myself, I knew how, and I clawed my way out. Now I still know how, but I don’t see the point.
