@ustheremingtons: #ad #AAFPPartner Leave it to social media to see something before me or my doctors. Some comments I’ve received about my neck include, “thick,” “swollen,” and "concerning”.  And while I know you all mean well, one doom scroll through comments can leave anyone with 12 different diagnoses and skyrocketing anxiety. Instead of spiraling, I went to FamilyDoctor.org @familydoctororg. Their symptom tracker gave me possible conditions to bring up with my doctor: enlarged thyroid, goiter, or thyroiditis (Hashimoto’s). It didn’t give me all the answers, but it gave me the right questions. I walked into my appointment prepared with my symptoms, my questions, and the confidence to advocate for myself. And that made all the difference. Takeaway: no one will advocate for your health more than you. Tools like FamilyDoctor.org can help you walk into your next visit ready and empowered. #womenshealth #thyroid #womenshealthmatters

Strong Mama Melissa 😈 :
I've had a goiter on my thyroid for the past 10 years. my brother also just had thyroid cancer. Last year and I'm scared to go back in and tell the doctor to do a biopsy which is what his doctor told me Because brother's cancer is hereditary.

I have hashimotos and have had my thyroid removed. I was told “my throat looks large” and just laughed it off. Turns out I had goiters as well 😳 they got bigger which led to my thyroid being removed. I’m glad you’re getting it checked out

Hashi girl here…58. Don’t dismiss the importance of what your body is telling you. Regular docs do not understand Hashimotos. It’s really a gut, liver, gallbladder issue. If you check these things and do all the supports they need to work better…your thyroid will do better. Research the meds…they hardly ever work for Hashi’s. Start with a naturopath to understand diet, supplementation, etc…have labs done…t4, t3 and reverse t3, TSH, zinc, selenium, vitamin d, cortisol, etc…start a full hashi diet protocal. It’s all doable, you’ve got to get the antibodies down to stop the attack of the thyroid and gut testing will help you know what else is goin on…bacteria plays a big role in this along with low stomach acid. I’ve been able to stay healthy since my 30’s without my thyroid needing meds or getting worse. But conventional medicine doesn’t get any of this. Please find a functional med doc who specializes in Hashi’s or a naturopathic doctor. They get it! Good luck!🥰
