Yup, as I heard that sound I already knew which gears it would be, had a driver wreck a 4 month old trans the same way. Driver no longer employed.

any particular reason for the aluminum bell housing other than weight savings? I used an iron bell housing when I swapped to an 18 speed

Stabbing a transmission can be as easy as you make it, or as hard as you make it. lol. Like you said, a few minutes of prep before removing makes it much easier to install later. I don't care how strong a guy is, it won't go if it's not lined up😁
