Have you checked the filter? Sometimes they’ll throw pebbles in there to clog the fan so they can escape when you have to clean the tank

i knew a guy who had his fish go missing, after years of this he tore apart the tank and a HUGE crab was hiding in the back under some rocks 😭😭 he found out that sometimes baby crabs can be in imported sand so maybe move the rocks to look?

Yeah, aquarium stuff isn't sterile. Like other commenters said, there's probably a large worm hiding in the piece of coral or in the sand that ate the fish.
